. . . NJ is not energy independent, and that none of the wind farms in the
state are generating electricity?
New Jersey has shut down both nuclear generator and natural gas facilities (six) to
move to green energy and coal facilities was fully phased out in 2017 - 2022. The
plant closures increased dependence on outside sources. Multi-biillions were
invested in wind energy (Ocean Wind 1 and 2), and one company went belly up.
As of 2023, NJ imported 20% of our electricity, since we consume more than we
produce. Prices are rising in 2025 by nearly 2000%.
To shift those expenses to “the rich,” Bill A5255 is under consideration. Middle-
and higher income tax bracket families will offset the cost of energy increases for
all. Expect to see a significant increase if you are single and earn more than
$60,000, or $82,000 for a couple, or $124,000 for a family of four — per a
formula based on the 2024 FPL (Fed Poverty Level).
Energy providers were closed prematurely during the installation of wind farms.
We support re-opening gas and nuclear plants. Let’s not throw good money after
bad.
