. . . what "sanctuary status" means for the state of New Jersey?

New Jersey's immigrant Trust Directive was enacted in 2019. It limits cooperation between state and local law enforcement with federal immigration authorities -- preventing municipalities from extending immigration detention agreements with federal immigration authorities.  Since enactment and minimal cooperation with ICE, a dozen assault and murder crimes by illegal immigrants are on record, and that list is incomplete and growing.

As a sanctuary state, NJ attracts undocumented immigrants. With approximately 1 million needing access to our public systems -- schools, courts, urgent care centers and housing are being strained. For example, an 925 million is estimated annually for their children in K-12. Yet many school districts are already experiencing significant budget cuts. Citizens are taking on the budget burden. Is this what our legislative district wants? If so, we will represent you. We will share with you what we've learned about the estimated costs of assimilation per year, in $$$ and in public safety.

We support Jack Ciattarelli in his proposal to restore COLA for our police and  firefighters, to protect qualified immunity for police officers and to repeal sanctuary status to discourage moving to New Jersey. Police have been ordered not to comply with federal arrest warrants. We advocate for our police; we do not support defunding them.
